GI / Sensitive Stomach

A gentle, easy-to-digest meal for dogs recovering from an upset stomach, dealing with chronic diarrhea, healing after GI surgery, or living with inflammatory bowel disease. Lean turkey and white rice form the classic bland base, pumpkin adds soft fiber that helps firm up stool, papaya brings a natural enzyme that aids digestion, and a small amount of L-glutamine helps repair the gut lining. Easy on the system, complete on nutrition.

Notes & guidance

  • · Provides ~35% of energy from protein, ~36% from fat, and ~30% from carbohydrate.
  • · Low-residue, highly digestible framework — minimizes GI workload and antigenic exposure in chronic enteropathies.
  • · Parboiled white rice supports enterocyte recovery and is low in residue.
  • · Pumpkin's soluble fiber gently normalizes stool consistency; papain from papaya aids protein digestion.
  • · L-glutamine is the primary enterocyte fuel and supports mucosal repair in chronic enteropathies.

Feeding instructions

  1. 1Cook the turkey thoroughly — bake or sauté until no pink remains. Drain any excess fat.
  2. 2Cook the rice, pumpkin, and spinach until soft for easy digestion.
  3. 3Mix the daily portion together with the supplements in one batch, then divide across 3–4 small meals during acute recovery to minimize gastric distention.
  4. 4Add iViBlend, Calgae, L-glutamine, and the oils AFTER cooling — do not heat the supplements.
  5. 5Refrigerate up to 3 days, or portion and freeze for up to 2 months.
  6. 6Supplement cobalamin (B12) separately if deficient — common in chronic enteropathy.
  7. 7Monitor body condition and stool score weekly; re-evaluate at 8–12 weeks for transition vs long-term use.
