Healthy Adult Dog

An everyday balanced meal for healthy adult dogs. The mix of meat, whole grains or starchy vegetables, and produce gives your dog complete nutrition with plenty of variety. Rotate the protein, grain, and vegetable each week so meals stay interesting and your dog gets a broader range of nutrients. Split the daily amount into two meals, and introduce the supplements slowly over about 10 days if your dog is picky.

Notes & guidance

  • · Provides ~30% of metabolizable energy from protein, 30% from fat, and 40% from carbohydrate.
  • · Fruits and vegetables supply polyphenols, carotenoids, and — most importantly — potassium.
  • · Carbohydrate can be replaced with an extra 3 oz of meat for a higher-protein, higher-fat version. If you do this, use Calgae as the calcium source for a better calcium-to-phosphorus ratio.

Feeding instructions

  1. 1Cook the protein thoroughly — bake, sauté, or simmer until no pink remains.
  2. 2Cook the starch and vegetables until soft for easy digestion.
  3. 3Mix the daily portion together with the supplements in a single batch, then divide across two meals.
  4. 4Add iViBlend and Calgae (or bone meal) after cooling — do not heat the supplements.
  5. 5Introduce supplements gradually over 10 days if your dog is picky — healthful supplements can alter taste and acceptability.
  6. 6Rotate protein, starch, and vegetable choices weekly to broaden the amino-acid and micronutrient profile.
  7. 7Refrigerate prepared food and use within 3 days, or portion and freeze for up to 2 months.
  8. 8Weigh your dog regularly with your vet — adjust the daily portion up or down by as much as 40% based on activity and body condition.
